POSITION SUMMARY The Manager, Data Systems will be responsible for overseeing a global team within Blackberry Operations tasked with the deployment, configuration, maintenance and administration of infrastructure and applications supporting the collection and distribution of Blackberry Application data for strategic consumption within the organization. The team's primary responsibilities include the collection, retention and distribution of extremely large data streams on the order of hundreds of terabytes per day. Responsibilities: Manage technical team resources and operational budgets On board, train and mentor technical team resources Resource and facilitate deployment projects and release cycles Ensure the successful transition of products and services to into production support frameworks Enforce team adherence to established procedures and policies Establish standard operational requirements for production systems Provide release cycle feedback to development and engineering teams to facilitate product improvement Support and facilitate the escalation of issues within the organization Communicate team goals and priorities to the organization Collaborate with other teams within the organization to achieve senior leadership goals ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent technical background Ability to build and maintain relationships across teams Understanding of database, storage, networking and systems technology 5+ years experience leading and coaching technical teams Leadership and management skills Strong and persuasive communication skills Strong analytics and diagnostics background (Six Sigma experience an asset) Strong organization and time management skills NICE TO HAVE Six Sigma experience Project Management experience Experience managing large budgets If you're driven to take wireless technologies to the next level, it's time you join the team at RIM.
